Problem

Tom has 1313 snakes. Some of them are purple, and some of them are happy. Each snake might also be able to add, or be able to subtract — or not.

Tom notices three things about his snakes:

  • Every happy snake can add.
  • No purple snake can subtract.
  • Every snake that cannot subtract also cannot add.

Using only these three facts, which one of the conclusions below must be true?
