Problem

Picture a round pizza with a diameter of 1212 inches.

If you lined up pepperoni circles edge-to-edge straight across the middle of the pizza, exactly 66 of them would fit along the diameter.

Now place 2424 of these pepperoni circles on the pizza so that none of them overlap.

What fraction of the pizza is covered by pepperoni?

Diagram

Six same-size pepperoni circles fit edge-to-edge across the 12-inch pizza diameter — find each pepperoni's diameter first.

pizza diameter = 12 in 1 pepperoni 6 pepperoni across = 12 in → each pepperoni diameter = ?

Pick an answer.

(A)
$\frac 12$
(B)
